I grew up at the Carolina Dirt Tracks where racing was just a way of life. My family was deeply involved in the local racing scene, and I spent countless weekends at the track, watching cars kick up dirt and zoom around the bends. The Checkered 9 is based off of my favorite driver of all time… MY DAD; John Pursley. He ran Dirt Lake Models all over the Carolinas. My food truck is the perfect blend of childhood experiences—dirt track racing and a love for cooking—giving me the chance to bring both of my worlds together.

In 2025, after 25+ years in the local food service industry, Marsha started serving up delicious, made-to-order meals that would satisfy anyone looking for a good lunch and The Checkered 9 was born.
